Detailed itinerary for the safari 

Day 1 transfer from Kampala/ Entebbe to mabamba swamp to Queen Elizabeth national park

The first day of your safari you will wake up early in the morning for morning breakfast then meet your safari driver/ guide who will brief you about the safari and drive to mabamba swamp which is situated in mpigi, in mabamba swamp you will see many bird most especially the shoe bill.

From mabamba swamp you will embark on your journey to queen Elizabeth National Park, on your way you will have a stopover in fort portal for lunch. After lunch you will drive to Queen Elizabeth national park, you are to reach in the park in the evening, check into your lodge, Dinner and overnight stay at Simba Safari camp or Engiri game lodge for budget/Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge or Hippo hill camp for mid range/ Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana Safari lodge for Luxury.

Day 2 full day in Queen Elizabeth national park

Second day of the safari is a full day in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will wake up in the morning for early morning breakfast and head to the park.

You drive in the park will take you on a visit to the best birding spots in the park such as lake Katwe, Bunyampaka and kazinga channel for a boat ride.

In the morning session you will visit Lake Katwe and Bunyampaka where you will see birds like White-spotted Flufftail, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Yellow-billed Barbet, Western Nicator, Grey-winged Robin-chat, White-tailed Ant-thrush, Brown-backed Scrub-robin, Black-and-white Shrike-flycatcher.

Brown-throated Wattle-eye, Superb Sunbird, Brown-crowned Tchagra, and Bocage’s Bush-shrike. After the session you will drive back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go to kazinga channel where you will see many birds on the banks of the channel, you can also chose to do a boat cruise on which you will see many birds.

After you will drive back to your lodge, Dinner and overnight stay at Simba Safari camp or Engiri game lodge for budget/Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge or Hippo hill camp for mid range/ Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana Safari lodge for Luxury.

Day 3 full day in Queen Elizabeth national park

The third day is another full day in Queen Elizabeth national park in maramagabo forest, maramagambo forest is an excellent site for many birds, a walk in the forest is a chance for you to see many beautiful bird species such as White-spotted Flufftail, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Yellow-billed Barbet.

Western Nicator, Grey-winged Robin-chat, White-tailed Ant-thrush, Brown-backed Scrub-robin, Black-and-white Shrike-flycatcher, Brown-throated Wattle-eye, Superb Sunbird, Brown-crowned Tchagra, Bocage’s Bush-shrike and many more.

After the morning session you have lunch then in the afternoon you will go back to the forest and visit the areas of the forest you didn’t visit in the morning. After the experience you will drive back to your lodge,Dinner and overnight stay at Simba Safari camp or Engiri game lodge for budget/Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge or Hippo hill camp for mid range/ Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana Safari lodge for Luxury.

Day 4 transfer from Queen Elizabeth national park to kibale national forest Park

The fourth day of the safari is for a birding watching safari in kyambura gorge and transferring from Queen Elizabeth national park to kibale national park, on this day you will up early in the morning for morning breakfast and then drive to kyambura gorge.

Kyambura gorge is a home for many bird species, a walk in the gorge will offer you sights of colorful bird species such as such as Yellow-spotted Barbet, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Yellow-billed Barbet, Western Nicator, Grey-winged Robin-chat.

White-tailed Ant-thrush, Brown-backed Scrub-robin, Black-and-white Shrike-flycatcher, Brown-throated Wattle-eye, Superb Sunbird, Brown-crowned Tchagra, Bocage’s Bush-shrike, Black Bishop, White-breasted Negrofinch and many more.

After the activity you will get out of Queen Elizabeth national park and head to kibale national park, you are to reach the park in the afternoon for lunch and after lunch you relax for another day as you wait for Dinner and overnight stay at Chimp nest for mid range/Ndali lodge or Lodge for Luxury/Chimpanzee guest house or rweetera safari park for budget.

Day 5 full day kibale forest national park

the fifth day of your safari you are to have a full day of bird watching in the forests of kibale, kibale forests are a home for over 320 bird species and since it is dominated by forests it attract many birds most especially during fruit bearing season.

On this day you will wake up early in the morning for morning breakfast and the drive to kibale forests, the forests has many well maintained trails which are used while on this safari. As you walk through the forest and with a help of a binocular.

You will see many birds such as Black-crowned Waxbill, White-spotted Flufftail, White-breasted Negrofinch, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Black Bishop, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Bocage’s Bush-shrike, Yellow-billed Barbet, Brown-crowned Tchagra, Black & white Shrike-flycatcher, Western Nicator, Superb Sunbird, Grey-winged Robin-chat, Brown-throated Wattle-eye.

White-tailed Ant-thrush plus the Brown-backed Scrub-robin, in addition to many other species. since it’s a full of bird watching, after the first session you will drive back to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon you will return to the forest but this time you visit area you did not visit in the morning session. a walk in kibale forest does not only offer you views of birds but you get a chance to see primates like chimpanzees , baboons and many more which are found in the forest

Dinner and overnight stay at Chimp nest for mid range/Ndali lodge or primates lodge for Luxury/Chimpanzee guest house or rweetera safari park for budget.

Day 6 bigodi swamp

On the 6th day of the safari you will wake up for early morning breakfast and then drive to bigodi swamp for another exciting bird watching expedition, bigodi swamp is an excellent bird watching area formed in 1992 and managed  by kibale association rural and environmental development a community based project.

Bigodi swamp has many trails which are used to navigate through the swamp and while in the swamp your spot many beautiful species and also enjoy melodic sounds to the birds. Birds seen in the swamp include blue turaco, hornbill, wax bill, weaver, cuckoos, kingfisher fly catcher and many more.

You are to have a full day of touring in the swamp, after the first session you will drive back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will return back to the swamp for another exciting bird watching.

After the afternoon session you will drive back to your lodge, Dinner and overnight stay at Chimp nest for mid range/Ndali lodge or primates lodge for Luxury/Chimpanzee guest house or rweetera safari park for budget.

Day 7 transfer from kibale national park to Kampala

On the 7th and last day of your safari you will wake up for breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on your journey back to Kampala. You are to arrive in Kampala in the afternoon, have lunch and then be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your departure which marks the end of your safari.
