On this 9 days safari Tanzania and Rwanda you will spend time on safari on the northern Tanzania exploring Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and lake Manyara. After finishing safari in Tanzania, you will fly to Kigali-Rwanda where you will spend 3 days & trek mountain gorilla.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport our representatives will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel in Arusha. Settle into your accommodation, relax and get used to the African atmosphere ready to start your safari in the morning. This hotel stay includes bed and breakfasts since you will probably arrive late in the evening. The other hotels during your safari are with full board. An hour drive from the airport to your lodge.
Today you depart after breakfast to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. Since this is one of the lesser known parks in Tanzania, it still has an authentic safari atmosphere. The hilly landscape scattered with grand Baobab trees against the blue sky is breathtaking. Witness the world’s largest concentration of elephants.
Herds of up to 300 elephants can be seen around the Tarangire River, drinking or enjoying a mud bath. Apart from elephant, Tarangire is a paradise for bird lovers.
We will then have our lunch then keep on with game drive then later drive in the area around swamps you can also see lions, leopards, cheetahs and even tree climbing pythons.
After lunch and further game drive, you will head back to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, we head towards the Serengeti National Park via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Leaving the highlands behind we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the Central park area known as Seronera area which is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti species.
We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park and in the late afternoon, we head straight to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Today you continue your safari inside Serengeti National Park. This was the most impressive place where nature documentaries were shot. The endless plains and abundance of wildlife are unsurpassed.
The annual wildebeest migration of more than a million wildebeest is probably Serengeti main draw.
It is a true spectacle of nature and impressive to see millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles thunder across the endless plains of the Serengeti. Together with your guide you will be looking for the herds across the plains. Then you will have the picnic lunch and keep on with the game drive.
If you like to watch wildlife from another perspective, we recommend you go to on a balloon safari. It is an amazing experience to drift silently above the plains with herds of wildlife. In the late afternoon, we head straight to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast drive from Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On this route there will be a high chance of seeing a lot of wildlife. After arriving at the crater rim, you will descend to the Ngorongoro crater floor.
The views are amazing! This collapsed volcanic crater is a unique ecosystem with a wide variety of vegetation. Enjoy the beautiful colors of the landscapes and the wealth of the animals.
The crater is home to the highest concentration wildlife in Africa and is full of elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos and even the rare black rhino. We will then have our picnic lunch then later we will visit the Masai Villages or visit the Elephant caves and after that we drive straight to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel to start your safari to the Lake Manyara National Park. Established in 1960, the small Lake Manyara National Park is home to tree climbing lions, elephants and large troops of baboons and monkeys.
The park is dominated by the shallow, alkaline lake and boasts with diverse habitats like grassy plains, escarpment and forest.
The safari vehicle has an open roof and is the ideal viewing platform to appreciate the nature and animals of this park. Later drive back to Arusha and drop to the airport ready to fly to Kigali. Upon arrival at Kigali airport our our company representatives will welcome and take you for a briefing at the hotel.
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and then go for hiking at Mt Bisoke with a beautiful spectacular crater lake. The trail traverses the rain forest inhabited by the endangered mountain gorillas that were the subject of the movie Gorillas in the mist.
The hike to the Crater lake takes about 3 hours up and 2 hours. We will then have our picnic lunch and later on our representatives will drive you through the terraced hills of Rwanda to Volcanoes National park, home to the endangered mountains gorillas and after that, drive back to our lodge for dinner and overnight.
After early morning breakfast you will be transferred to the park headquarters – Kinigi for a briefing about the endangered mountain gorillas from the park warden. Along with your trekking gear, drinking water and packed lunch, the driver will drop you off at the starting point to trek the gorillas together with the ranger guides.
This activity may take between 1-8 hours searching for the gorillas depending on their movement. However meeting them is so rewarding and you will spend maximally 1 hour with them as you take studying them and taking pictures and videos.
Retreat and return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge.
